The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced today, Tuesday, September 17, 2024, corresponding to 14/3/1446 AH, during its third meeting held in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, the inclusion of “MOVE Comprehensive Sports Medicine Center” as the latest distinguished medical center in the Asian continent. This makes it the first Saudi facility to be recognized by the continental federation, bringing the total number of AFC-recognized medical centers across Asia to 13.
During its third meeting, the AFC congratulated the MOVE Comprehensive Sports Medicine Center for its leadership and excellence, having met the necessary criteria for this recognition. Dato’ Dr. Gurcharan Singh, Chair of the AFC Medical Committee, said on this occasion: “On behalf of the AFC and the Asian sports science and medicine community, I extend warm congratulations to MOVE Comprehensive Sports Medicine Center for this significant achievement. We look forward to their valuable contributions to sports medicine and science in the coming years.” He added that the medical centers and centers of excellence recognized by the AFC play a crucial role in enhancing our ability to provide world-class medical care and services to our players across the continent.
This recognition comes as part of the AFC’s important role in amplifying efforts by honoring leading medical institutions in sports medicine, which possess clinical, research, and educational expertise, as well as injury prevention measures and experience in managing elite-level football injuries.
It is worth mentioning that the MOVE Comprehensive Sports Medicine Center is a medical facility established in 2020 in Riyadh. It specializes in diagnosing, treating, rehabilitating, educating, and preventing sports injuries and musculoskeletal injuries for athletes, professionals, and the community. The center operates under the supervision of international consultants in various sports medicine disciplines, providing rehabilitation according to the highest global standards. Its aim is to enhance health outcomes by diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating sports and bone injuries, while also participating in prevention efforts to improve the quality of life for the sports community in Saudi Arabia.
